Ahmed Zaafran

Ahmed Zaafran, M.D, is a Clinical Instructor at the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine, Stanford University School of Medicine.

Born in Cairo, Egypt, Dr. Zaafran moved to the U.S.A. with his family as a child and settled in Sugar Land, Texas in 1981. After completing undergraduate education at The University of Texas, at Austin, he went on to complete his medical diploma at St. George's University, Grenada, West Indies in 2008. He completed his anesthesia residency training at The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, Texas in 2012. Dr. Zaafran focused much of his senior year at UT-Houston working under the tutelage of Dr. Carin Hagberg, primarily on advanced airway management in neurosurgical cases.

Ahmed joined Stanford after completing his residency training in Houston, and is currently the Director of Endoscopic Services at Stanford University Hospital, and is an attending in Head and Neck Anesthesia and Advanced Airway Management team.

Dr. Zaafran focuses his clinical and teaching activities around advanced airway management, in addition to perioperative management of gastroenterology and hepatology patients undergoing endoscopic procedures.
